Dazzling fashionistas at the Oscars

The saga of glitz and glitter, the show of splendid opulence and the demonstration of dazzling fashion and style is best witnessed on that special day of the year when the Oscars red carpet is laid to welcome contenders and the winners.

The black lady might herself be a soberly dressed trophy, but the ladies who come to take her home, sometimes plan for months for their d-day outfit.

This year too it was a stunning show of pomp and magic. The winner of the best actress award Jennifer Lawrence for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook" wore a full, white, Dior Couture dress.

Jennifer Anniston wore a red Valentino with a wide skirt while Charlize Theron's strapless Dior Couture gown and her new pixie haircut showed off those (enviable) cheekbones and made her look quite ravishing.

Salma Hayek was seen in an embellished-collar Alexander McQueen gown in which looked more like an exotic dance costume!

Instead of her usual Valentino, Anne Hathaway picked a (rather dull) Prada dress which was embarrassingly a bit too revealing!

Jane Fonda hardly looked 75( in fact much, much younger )in her yellow Versace dress and ensured all eyes were on her!

Kristen Stewart's Reem Acra dress looked so beautiful, even the crutches that Kristen accessorised with,could do nothing do the dull the gorgeousness of the ivory gown.

Naomi Watts' shimmering Armani Prive gown looked just perfect. Her neckline added a sexy touch!

Skyfall actress Naomi Harris Tweeted that her Michael Badger took 120 hours to make, hand embroidered with vintage beads and chocolate wrappers!

Michelle Obama who made a surprise appearance looked absolutely stunning while she gave a moving speech during the announcement of the nominees for Best Picture.  

Her custom-made, Naeem Khan dress with all it's glitters looked perfectly well with her subdued make up and nude lips!
